SUMMARY:GVL US National Weather Service Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Greenville 3rd-5th graders: Would you like a chance to tour our local National Weather Service Facility here in Greer\, SC? \nThe tour will be on Thursday\, March 6 from 9-10:30am. \nFor this trip\, the students will start with a presentation covering a little about the basics of weather\, then will learn what they do in the NWS and how they make forecasts. It will be followed by a lot of discussion about severe weather types and safety (safety/preparedness is really important to them!). The field trip will be interactive\, with demonstrations to visually show what’s presented. After the presentation (and usually a LOT of Q&A) we’ll take a tour of our operations area to show the kids all of the computers\, and finally go outside to see the radar. The tour will last around 1.5 hours. \n** Latex Allergy: Please be aware that a weather balloon will be passed around. \nThere is no cost for this field trip. This is not a drop off but due to the student cap\, we’re asking for no siblings outside of 3rd-5th grades. Having a friend to assume responsibility for your child is perfectly acceptable. \n1549 GSP Drive\nGreer\, SC\n(Look for the big radar in the backyard!)
