Students can look forward to various project based learning all centered around the theme Space “Out of this World!”. Students will rotate through 4 classes with 4 different teachers. A parent assistant will be assigned to each group of students and will help them rotate. As part of their project day\, students will also go to recess and have snack and lunch. \nWhen: Wednesday\, April 15th\, 2026 \nTime: 9:10 – 2:35pm. \n\nMorning Drop Off:  You may drop off your student in the HH Gym by either walking them in or dropping them off through the carline starting at 8:45am.  Students will be checked in the Gym and given a name tag and put in their assigned group for the day.\nAfternoon Pick Up:  Please bring your UHC parking tag and walk into the gym to pick up your students.\n\nCost: $20 per student \nWhere: Elementary Project Day for students in K5-2nd grades will be held at UHC’s Hampton Heights campus. \nWhat to Bring: \n\nA backpack with the following:\nWater Bottle – clearly labeled with student’s name\nSnack – please label it clearly as SNACK\nLunch\nJacket\, if cold. Students will incorporate math\, engineering and art as they create a model together to visualize the vast distances between the planets in the sky\, complete a space themed LEGO challenge and put their imaginations to work as they create their own planet!\n\n  \nClass #2 – Cosmic Extremes: The Coldest\, Hottest\, and Weirdest Places in Space! taught by Mrs. Hannah Snelling \n\nOverview:  Have you ever wondered where the hottest place in space is? How about the coldest? Maybe you’ve wondered if there are volcanoes in space? Join Mrs. Snelling to explore some of the most extreme places in outer space! Students will rotate through several hands-on activities as we think critically about some of the strangest places in our solar system and beyond!\n\n  \nClass #3 –Constellations: Connect the Stars! taught by Mrs. Morgan Bowser \n\nOverview:  Students will explore the night sky and learn about constellations through an engaging mini-lesson and a variety of hands-on activities (such as constructing constellations with toothpicks and marshmallows). Students will learn that constellations are patterns of stars and that people long ago used them to tell stories and find their way. This class is designed to spark curiosity\, creativity\, and a love for the stars!\n\n  \nClass #4 –God’s planets and solar system are out of this world! taught by Mrs. Sami Hoilman \n\nOverview: Did you know that every planet in our solar system is unique? In this out-of-this-world class\, students will explore the different planets and discover what makes each one special—some are hot\, some are icy\, some are rocky\, and some are made of gas! Then\, students will use their creativity to design and build their very own planet. We’ll celebrate the creativity of God’s creation as we imagine what our own planet might look like and create a model to take home!

We’ll see how a number of different modifications affect their flight distance as we learn about concepts like Newton’s Laws\, force and acceleration\, and aerodynamics.\n\nClass #2– Galaxy in a Jar! taught by Mrs. Kristen Goodman \n\nOverview: Have you ever wondered what our galaxy looks like? If you have\, then come join Mrs. Goodman in the Galaxy in a Jar Lab!  Galaxies are collections of gas\, dust\, and millions of stars. Our galaxy is the Milky Way and is just one of trillions of galaxies! Using the information we learn about galaxies\, we will use items to represent the different parts and create our own galaxy in a jar! After this experiment you will have a great understanding of what galaxies look like!\n\nClass #3– Life as a Astronaut– taught by Mrs. Lucy Wright \n\nOverview:  Join us to get a glimpse of what it might be like to live aboard the International Space Station! Students will hear a story from space and learn what daily life is like. We will synthesize what we learn about astronauts in groups\, and finally we will end our session by building craft astronaut suits.\n\nClass #4 –Star Studded Constellations–  taught by Mrs. Lesley Fox \n\nOverview:  Have you ever wondered what stars are and why they look different from Earth? Or perhaps what constellations are\, why cultures created them\, and why different constellations are visible in different seasons? Come hang out with Mrs. Fox and learn the answer to those questions. DESCRIPTION:Place: Grace Church Taylors/UHC Campus – 2701 Wade Hampton Blvd\, Taylors. \nRoom: Student Center (parking and entrance map) \nThis seminar is a one-time requirement per family for UHC High School Registration. \nHERE is a list of topics covered during the seminar. \nIf you are putting a student in our high school program\, even as an 8th grader\, this seminar is mandatory. If you are a current member with a new high school student\, you must be signed up for this seminar before you can enroll. Please note that your high school registration will not be secured until the class is completed. This is not to be harsh\, but rather because we have found over the years that there are many important details for our high school families as they travel the journey towards graduation that are communicated in this seminar. We want you to be prepared on the front end of the high school journey and not scrambling as you get near graduation. \nStudents are not required to attend. \nIf you would like an optional one-on-one consultation\, please note that on the sign up form. One consultation (20min) is included in your fee. You may request an additional consultation if you have a 2nd high school student. Sign up below!\n\nNote:  If your family has students in both one and two day models\, please feel free to sign up all of your Elementary children for whichever one field day event you prefer so you don’t have to come twice.  You can just pick a class for your students to join if they are not part of that model usually. \nNOTE:  a Bubble Foam machine will be one of the field day stations so if you think your child may need a change of clothes\, be sure to bring them! \nBe sure to bring camping chairs\, picnic blankets\, water bottles\, change of clothes (optional) and sunscreen. SUMMARY:GVL MS - Upcountry History Museum Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Come learn about different eras of our South Carolina history! The focus for this field trip will be on World War II\, and students will be able to handle artifacts from the war! We will have classroom learning time as well as time to walk around and experience the museum. The field trip time is from 10:45-12:45pm. \nCost is $14/adult; $11/student; $10/sibling. Participants will pay at the door. Ages 2 and under are FREE.  We need a minimum of 3 chaperones\, but all siblings must have a parent chaperone.\n\nFeel free to bring a packed lunch to eat on the lawn following the field trip!

We’re excited to offer an action-packed field trip to Motive Movement\, a premier Ninja Warrior and parkour gym right here in Greenville\, near Haywood Mall. \nWhen:\nFriday\, March 27\n9:30–11:30 AM \nWho:\nK5–5th grade\nAge requirement: Participants must be at least 5 years old\nYounger siblings may hang out and watch with parent supervision. There is also very small play area upstairs for wiggles while they wait. \nWhat:\nStudents will enjoy two full hours of guided\, high-energy fun\, including:\n– Ninja Warrior obstacle courses inspired by the American Ninja Warrior TV show\n– Parkour circuits that build agility\, balance\, and coordination\n– Trampoline time on two Olympic-size trampolines\n– Spring floor and additional movement challenges\n– Motive also incorporates time focused on building positive habits\, encouraging students to practice perseverance\, goal-setting\, teamwork\, and confidence in a supportive environment. \nImportant:\nThis is not a drop-off event.\nParents or a designated chaperone must plan to stay with their children during the field trip. DESCRIPTION:Join us for Open House to learn about UHC and tour our Greenville campuses.\nUHC has two GVL campuses located approximately 2 minutes away from each other: \n\nGrace Church\, Taylors:  hosts our GVL 6th – 12th grade programs\nHampton Heights Baptist Church:  hosts our K3 – 5th grade Elementary program\n\nOur Open House event will begin at Hampton Heights Baptist Church for a general info session pertaining to all\, and then campus tours will be given at both GVL campus locations listed above.   \nHigh School and Middle School students are welcome to attend the Open House event and tour with a parent\, but we ask that you find alternate childcare for your Elementary and younger aged children (unless you have a baby who needs to be with you). \nCheck in and the General Meeting will be held in the Sanctuary of Hampton Heights Baptist Church.   Please follow the instructions for Visitor Parking at our Hampton Heights campus. \nOpen House Schedule: \n\n9:30 – 9:45am:  Check-In in the Sanctuary at Hampton Heights Baptist Church\n9:45  – 10:45am:  General Info Session\n10:45am – 11:45am:  Campus Tours at both Hampton Heights (Elementary) and Grace Church (Middle & High School)

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun and engaging field trip to the beautiful South Carolina State House in Columbia! \nTour Times:\n1:00 PM & 1:30 PM\n(We will divide into two guided groups. Please choose your preferred option from below.)\nTours will last 30 min and then you will be free to explore on your own or participate in our scavenger hunt. \nWho Can Attend?\nElementary students will be our primary focus\, but siblings (older and younger) are more than welcome to join us. Please RSVP for each individual attending. \nCost:\nFree \nAs you tour the magnificent State House\, you will be impressed by its outstanding architecture\, historical paintings\, and fascinating history. Even young learners will enjoy seeing the grand dome\, large chambers\, and artwork that tell the story of South Carolina.
