SUMMARY:GVL - Navigating the High School Maze: Homeschool Planning Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Place: Grace Church Taylors/UHC Campus – 2701 Wade Hampton Blvd\, Student Center \nThis Seminar is a one-time requirement per family for UHC High School Registration. \nHERE is a list of topics covered during the seminar. \nIf you are putting a student in our high school program\, even as an 8th grader\, this seminar is mandatory. It is a one-time obligatory requirement per family and must be done in order to register. Students need not attend. \nIf you are a current member with a new high school student\, you must be signed up for this seminar before you can enroll. Please note that your high school registration will not be secured until the class is completed. This is not to be harsh\, but rather because we have found over the years that there are many important details for our high school families as they travel the journey towards graduation that are communicated in this seminar. We want you to be prepared on the front end of the high school journey and not scrambling as you get near graduation. \nIf you want a consultation\, please note that on the sign up form. One is included in your fee. \n$40 Registration for 1 student.\nMake payment to Suzanne Brown. Mail to 6806 Mountain View Rd.\, Taylors\, SC 29687 or Venmo @Suzanne-Brown-51 \n$10 per additional high school student in the same family for optional counseling session (1st high school child is included in the basic fee but you must sign up for the counseling session). \nThis seminar is Open to the Public\, so feel free to invite anyone who might benefit from this information to register.

SUMMARY:Zan Tyler Event
DESCRIPTION:Dear UHC Families\, \nWe have an incredible opportunity to hear from a woman whose contribution to South Carolina homeschooling paved the way to freedoms we enjoy today. \nZan Tyler’s homeschool journey began in 1984 when homeschooling was illegal and she was threatened with jail. For eight years\, she and other families battled for homeschool freedom and established landmark homeschool legislation in South Carolina. In 1990\, she founded the South Carolina Association of Independent Home Schools (SCAIHS) and served as its president for ten years. Zan loves to empower parents as they answer their God-given calling to homeschool. She is an inspirational speaker and author. \nWe will be hosting a special event with Zan Tyler on August 19th at 12:35pm at our Greenville Campus (Grace Church in Taylors). Attendance is free\, but registration is required. \nEvery person that registers will be entered into a drawing for a free student standardized testing certificate (Woodcock-Johnson test of achievement $90 value) from SMART Testing. \nWe encourage all teachers\, parents\, and students to attend this event – it is so very vital for us to know the history of the homeschooling movement in SC to preserve the freedoms for our future generations. You will be overwhelmed when you hear the full circle ending as recent as this past year! \n
