SUMMARY:SPT UHC Parent Training Seminar for IEW Writing Courses 2026
DESCRIPTION:This training seminar is mandatory for parents enrolling students in the following Institute for Excellence in Writing courses at UHC: \n\n3rd Grade IEW\n4th Grade IEW\n5th Grade IEW\nIEW 1\, 6th Grade for Sixth Graders new to UHC\nIEW 1\, 7th-8th Grade for Seventh or Eighth Graders new to UHC\n\nThe UHC Parent Training Seminar for IEW writing courses at UHC is 4 hours long and includes a combination of a recorded training and live Q&A sessions. IEW’s founder\, Andrew Pudewa\, introduces the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style method of teaching writing briefly covering the nine units of structure and introducing several stylistic techniques. Participants will gain insight into why this method is so effective in teaching even the most reluctant writer. UHC Staff and IEW teachers will provide live Q&A sessions where they will explain how UHC applies IEW’s structure and style models in our writing classes. UHC staff and teachers will also offer parents the opportunity to ask questions and share input. \nThis seminar will be held at The Church at the Mill campus of UHC\, in the Student Center.  Families with students attending the GVL\, SPT\, or TR campuses may attend this seminar. \nFind More Details: UHC Parent Training for IEW Writing Courses \nMaterials and Fees: Each attendee will need the handbook Teaching Writing: Structure and Style\, Third Edition. DESCRIPTION:Parents of 5th Graders\, You’re invited to a celebratory clap out in honor of your 5th grader’s last day of school! We are so incredibly proud of these students and will miss them when they move up to middle school! Read on for more details: \nWhen: Wednesday\, April 7th. Parents arrive by 2:15pm \nNote: Parents should plan to arrive a little before 2:15 so you can park and find your spot in the tunnel. We do not want you to miss your 5th grader walking out! \nWhere: If the weather is nice\, we’d love to do this outside! Please park in the Parent Parking area. Gather near the Gym and you’ll be directed on where to stand! We will have K3-4th grade students\, plus you parents\, form a tunnel from all the way to the gym for our 5th graders to walk through while you clap and cheer! \nWhat to Bring: Yourselves! Posters\, balloons\, streamers\, etc. are also encouraged as a fun way to recognize their hard work and this incredible milestone of leaving elementary school. Tissues are also encouraged for those misty eyes! \nJust like a normal class day all parents will be asked to wait outside the Gym until all classes have entered the gym. Then parents will be able to enter and pick up their students. Please remember to bring your car tag! After you’ve picked up\, feel free to gather outside the Gym and take more pictures with your student’s friends\, teachers\, etc! All teachers have been asked to stay after for a little while so that pictures can be taken!

A parent assistant will be assigned to each group of students and will help them rotate.
