DESCRIPTION:Second graders\, siblings\, and families please join us at Paris Mountain on Friday\, March 28th from 9:15-1:30 to learn about biodiversity! \nEach student K5 and up is $5. Adults are not charged\, but they must be present as a chaperone. All students are charged $5 regardless of state park pass. Entry to park is waived with field trip payment. We need 25 students for the field trip to occur. \nStudents will collect water and perform land field investigations as they collect animals\, measure water and air temperature\, and look for patterns among water animals. Students will hike around Lake Placid at the end observing plants and animals. \nPlease bring lunch\, water\, and water shoes if desired. We cannot offer refunds after Tuesday\, March 25th.

SUMMARY:SPT K3-5th Grade: Happy Cow Creamery Tour
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, March 31st\, Spartanburg K3-5th Graders will go to Happy Cow Creamery to see the cows and the farm via trolley. The milk bottling portion of this educational field trip is sure to delight the children. We will enjoy ice cream together\, also. \nThe tour will start promptly at 11 am and lasts about an hour. Please plan to arrive at 10:45. This is an outdoor tour so dress accordingly and wear CLOSED TOE shoes\, as this is mandatory. Use the restroom ahead of time and bring water\, if you would like. Happy Cow suggests children take the tour on a full stomach\, as the farm “smells” are easier to handle that way. \nThe cost is $8 per person\, including adults and children 3 years of age and older. Older siblings are welcome and require a ticket. Younger children can come and are free\, they do not need to a ticket. \nPlease RSVP below for Adults\, and paid children ages 3+\, Younger children can come but do not have to pay. Only paying guests will get a free vanilla or chocolate ice cream. There should be a place to eat a picnic lunch after the tour if you are interested.

We are so incredibly proud of these students and will miss them when they move up to middle school! Read on for more details: \nWhen:\n–Green Cedar (Monday ONLY students): Monday\, March 31st. Parents arrive by 2:15pm \nNote: Parents should plan to arrive a little before 2:15 so you can park and find your spot in the tunnel. We do not want you to miss your 5th grader walking out! \nWhere: If the weather is nice\, we’d love to do this outside! Please park in the Parent Parking area on either side of the church Sanctuary building. Gather on the large grassy field next to the Sanctuary and you’ll be directed on where to stand! We will have K3-4th grade students\, plus you parents\, form a tunnel from all the way to the gym for our 5th graders to walk through while you clap and cheer! \nWhat to Bring: Yourselves! Posters\, balloons\, streamers\, etc. are also encouraged as a fun way to recognize their hard work and this incredible milestone of leaving elementary school. Tissues are also encouraged for those misty eyes! \nJust like a normal class day all parents will be asked to wait outside the Gym until all classes have entered the gym. Then parents will be able to enter and pick up their students. Please remember to bring your car tag! After you’ve picked up\, feel free to gather outside the Gym and take more pictures with your student’s friends\, teachers\, etc! SUMMARY:SPT Elementary Field Day

DESCRIPTION:Due to weather\, POSTPONED until Monday\, April 7th. Come join us for any portion of this event!\nJoin your fellow UHC families for a social & elementary yearbook signing as we conclude the 2024-2025 co-op school year. \nOn Monday\, April 7th at 11:00am we will gather at Herdklotz park (just a quick 7 min drive from the school) for an afternoon at the park. There is a large playground\, separate fenced in toddler playground\, swings and ball fields. Pack a lunch and don’t forget your elementary yearbook if you purchased one (and pens/sharpies!)\, as this will be a perfect time to have all your friends sign! Students will rotate through 3 classes with 3 different teachers. A parent assistant will be assigned to each group of students and will help them rotate. As part of their project day\, students will also go to recess twice and have snack and lunch. \nWhen: Wednesday\, April 9th\, 2025 \nTime: 9:10 – 2:35pm. You may drop off your student in the HH Gym by either walking them in or dropping them off through the carline starting at 8:45am. Students will be checked in the Gym and given a name tag and put in their assigned group for the day. \nCost: $20 per student \nWhere: Elementary Project Day for students in K5-2nd grades will be held at UHC’s Hampton Heights campus. \nWhat to Bring: \n\nA backpack with the following:\nWater Bottle – clearly labeled with student’s name\nSnack – please label it clearly as SNACK\nLunch\nJacket\, if cold. Students will be having recess on the playground\, weather permitting.\n\nSign Ups:  Registration is required. \nUnfortunately\, this event is now FULL!  You may add your students to the waitlist below if you’d like to.  If a spot becomes available\, you will be contacted and can register and pay at that time.\nCancellations: If you need to cancel your student’s registration for any reason\, please contact Abby Williams. After that date and time\, no refunds will be issued for any reason. \n\nK5-2nd Grade Classes:\nCORAL REEFS taught by Mrs. Katlyn Cinicola \n\nOverview:  Students will rotate through centers learning all about coral reefs and the sea creatures that call it their home. Our time together will include a virtual field trip to the Great Barrier Reef\, a craft where students are able to build their own coral reef\, play a game inspired by the animals living there\, and engage in a vocabulary building activity!\n\n  \nLIFE IN A TIDE POOL– taught by Mrs. Hannah Snelling \n\nOverview:  In this class students will explore the wonders of life found in tide pools through books and hands-on learning centers. Students will learn about ocean tides\, tide pool creatures\, their habitat and unique adaptations.\n\n  \nSURPRISING SEASHELLS  – taught by Mrs. Candice Goewey \n\nOverview: Students will learn all about seashells. Students will rotate through center activity groups to experience many aspects of shells while also exploring them in the context of math\, science experiments\, language descriptors and story creation\, and will create fun craft tokens all while using seashells.\n\n

Students will design prosthetic solutions for the injured animals.\nMaterials Needed: pencil\, calculator\, ruler or measuring tape\, hot glue gun with extra glue sticks\, hole punches (handheld)\, scissors\n\nUnder the Sea Legos- taught by Maddie Carter \n\nOverview:  Students will design a robot to either rescue a hurt animal from the sea or to clean up the ocean floor.  They will use the Technological Design process to plan\, build and test while using the Lego Spike Prime kits.\nMaterials Needed: none\n\nInvertebrates in the Sea- taught by Anna Humphries \n\nOverview:  Students will learn about different kinds of underwater invertebrates and also review how oil and water don’t mix (in the ocean and also in art!) Then using oil pastel and watercolor\, we will create a resist painting. Students may choose among an octopus\, squid\, or jellyfish.\nMaterials needed: none\n\nOcean Chemistry-  taught by Meredith Landis \n\n\n\nOverview:  Students will explore the effects of salinity on buoyancy and the effects of Carbon Dioxide on the acidity of seawater through hands-on Chemistry experiments.  They will show their results through illustrations and labels. \nMaterials Needed: Pencils\n\n\n\nUnfortunately\, this event is now FULL!  You may add your students to the waitlist below if you’d like to.  If a spot becomes available\, you will be contacted and can register and pay at that time.

The students will explore all aspects of turtles from their history\, life cycle\, habitats\, and role in the ocean biome. By the end of the class\, students will be turtle experts and will even bring home some terrific turtle artwork!\n\n  \nTHE OCEAN DEEP– taught by Mrs. Lesley Fox \n\nOverview:  Have you ever wondered about the deepest parts of our ocean and the mysterious creatures that thrive in the darkness?  If you have\, then come join Mrs. Fox as we discover what really lies beneath and how these deep-sea creatures survive in the immense water pressure.  As a group\, we’ll build small pressure chambers and then you’ll create your own bioluminescent sea creature.\n\n  \nGILLS\, SCALES\, & SLIME!– taught by Mrs. Deborah Hellier \n\nOverview:  How do fish breathe? How do fish sink and float? In this class students will investigate some of the unique features of fish and learn the answers to these questions and more through hands-on experiments and will come home with some fishy artwork!\n\n  \nDIVE INTO THE DEEP SEA:  SEA MONSTER VS REAL SEA CREATURES! – taught by Mrs. DeAnna Shegda \n\nOverview: Are colossal krakens lurking in the abyssal depths? Did giant serpents once terrorize ancient mariners? In this exciting science class\, we’ll plunge into the fascinating world where myth meets marine biology! We’ll explore the captivating tales of legendary sea monsters\, from monstrous squids to fearsome leviathans\, and then compare them to the incredible diversity of real creatures that inhabit our oceans.Through engaging activities\, hands-on experiments\, and captivating visuals\, students will develop their scientific inquiry skills as they investigate the evidence behind these legendary beasts. We’ll learn about the adaptations\, behaviors\, and habitats of real sea creatures that may have inspired these myths\, uncovering the scientific explanations behind some truly amazing phenomena.\n\n
