DESCRIPTION:Experience History at this K5-5th grade Greenville field trip to Hagood Mill in Pickens SC. Hagood Mill is a beautifully preserved 1845 water-powered gristmill surrounded by restored cabins\, a blacksmith shop\, and the Petroglyph Center. On this field trip\, your student(s) will rotate between these four educational stations: \nTraditional Native American Games \nHousekeeping Chores of the 1800s \nFarming/Gardening in the 1800s \nNative American Life in the Upcountry \nPlease note that this is not a drop-off field trip. A guardian will need to stay on-site for the field trip.  You will be able to tour the mill\, and there are picnic tables for those who pack a lunch. \nYou must purchase a ticket for each of your K5-5th grade students below to attend this event; younger siblings and parents are free. DESCRIPTION:All middle school students aged 12 and above are welcome to join us as we tour the BMW Factory plant and their Zentrum Museum Friday\, October 31st! \nCome experience the creation of BMW cars and experience BMW’s past to the present at the Museum. \nIMPORTANT INFORMATION: \n\nOnce you register and pay below\, you must click here to print and complete a waiver.  Your student must have the completed waiver with them upon arrival in order to participate. BMW will not permit any student to participate without a completed and signed waiver.\nPer BMW: Everyone must be wearing completely enclosed shoes when they arrive to check in for their tour! (No open toes\, no open heels and no open sides of your feet can be showing. No Sandals\, no slides\, no crocs and no flip flops are allowed on the tour. Plus\, no high-heeled shoes are permitted. We recommend a sneaker be worn for the tour as your group will be walking for approximately 1-mile.\nNo one under the age of 12 will be allowed\, according to their insurance rules. Birthdays will be verified\n\nWhen you register below\, you will have the opportunity to let us know if you wish to be a chaperone.  We will be accepting only two chaperones. Once those two chaperones are confirmed\, they will also need to purchase a ticket. \nThey do not have a good place for lunch\, so please eat a good snack before you come! \nLast day to register is 10/23.  This is a non-refundable event.

DESCRIPTION:Spartanburg Elementary and Middle School students are invited for a day of fall fun at Strawberry Hill! \nElementary will take a hayride\, pick a pumpkin\, play on the playground\, and eat ice cream. \nMiddle School will navigate the corn maze and meet back up for lunch and ice cream! \nAll participants can pack a lunch for a picnic after the fun. \nWhen you arrive\, please meet in the farm stand at the counter to pay. You will pay Strawberry Hill the day of the event. When you arrive \n\n$15 for elementary students and parents\n$10 + ice cream money for middle school students and parents.\n\nOnce tickets are purchased\, you will be directed where to go with the group. \nAt least one parent from each family must stay for the duration of the field trip. Parents with only middle school students attending are asked to stay with the middle school group and help monitor a group of middle school students at the corn maze. Parents with both elementary and middle school students will stay with the elementary group and your middle school student will be grouped with another parent who will be at the corn maze.

DESCRIPTION:In this informative and relational conversation\, we will be learning new ways of thinking and new tools in order to empower your child to succeed in school\, at home\, and with friends. We will learn some of the best tools to foster and teach regulation as well as how to foster a deeper connection with your child. Following the presentation\, we will have time for Q&A \nThis event will be hosted at our Grace Campus. Parking is in the old Drew’s parking lot. \nPresenter is Adam Cowan\, LPC of Wellspring Counseling. Please see his bio below: \nBackground \nI was born and raised in Albuquerque\, NM. As is common among teenage males\, I struggled to be motivated or engaged in High School academics. I longed for adventure and to spend time away from what I considered tedious and impractical. For these reasons\, I joined the Marine Corps out of High School. During my time in the service\, I was deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. Following my service\, I returned to school and spent 9 years working in churches as a youth and young adult pastor. In conjunction with beginning graduate training as a therapist\, I worked as an investigative case worker for Child Protective Services. \nExperience \nLicensed Professional Counselor (South Carolina)\nM.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling\, Gordon-Conwell (CACREP)\nB.A. in Latin American Studies\, The University of New Mexico\nCertified Child Welfare Specialist\, SCDSS\nAmerican Counseling Association (Professional Member) \nI specialize in treating pre-adolescents\, adolescents\, and men dealing with anxiety\, OCD\, ADHD\, ODD\, depression\, low self-esteem\, low self-confidence\, anger struggles\, emotional dysregulation\, and poor peer relationships. I also work a great deal doing parental consultation to help parents build coherent parenting plans\, change systemic cycles\, lead behavior change\, and repair parent-child relationships. \nI am primarily a cognitive behavioral therapist who integrates Motivational Interviewing\, Solution-Focused Therapy\, Mindfulness\, and Parent-Management Training. \n

SUMMARY:SPT Field Trip: Vulcan Materials Rock Quarry Tour
DESCRIPTION:Visit the local rock quarry at Vulcan in Pacolet\, SC to learn all about it! \nWe will have a presentation\, the board a van to take a tour all through the rock quarry to see what they do! We will end with a pizza lunch and goodie bags provided by Vulcan Materials. \nTours typically include a general presentation by a Vulcan representative before the group proceeds on the tour of the production facility. The general presentation includes information about Vulcan Materials Company\, the use of minerals within society and particularly the role aggregates play in today’s world. There is also a discussion of the mining process\, how we produce aggregates\, the regulatory and permitting requirements and reclamation efforts. A safety talk is also included that addresses the safety requirements for the specific tour and group of visitors. \nThis trip is limited to 25 students. There is no fee for this field trip. Due to limited sign-ups\, please only register if you are committed to going. \nDue to the limited capacity\, this will be specifically for K5-5th grade students only. \nParents are encouraged to stay\, but not required. We will need (6) volunteers to officially act as chaperones\, specifically for the tour through the quarry.  Any additional adults who stay will be unable to go on the tour part of the day because of limited spots on the van.
