DESCRIPTION:    \nMiddle School Science Day \nGet ready to enjoy hands-on science activities with our UHC GVL teachers! \nWho: Grades 6-8 \nWhen:  Wednesday\, December 3\, 2025\, from 9:10 am to 12:45 pm (This event does NOT include a lunch period) \nWhere: UHC GVL Grace Campus; Check in will be in Main Building\, GYM \nCost: $18.00 per student payable upon sign up. \n\nMrs. Natasha Burman: \n\nOverview:  Students will demonstrate their knowledge of weather\, logic\, precipitation\, food webs and dichotomous keys in an escape room! Students will use their knowledge to crack the codes and unlock the “box” containing the secret information. \nWe will continue our winter weather focus by viewing photographic albums of snowflakes taken by snow crystal photographer and author Kenneth Libbrecht. \nStudents bring: Pencil \n\nMrs. Anna Humphries : Animal and Plant Cell Watercolors \n\nOverview: Combine science and art in this fun lesson that will teach students a variety of watercolor techniques including: wet-on-wet\, rubbing alcohol and salt\, graded wash\, scraping and resisting. Students will choose between sketching an animal or plant cell and use different watercolor techniques to paint it!\n Students bring: Pencil\n\nMrs. Lesley Fox: Roman Roads \n\nOverview: History and science connect in this engineering activity. Class time will begin with a study about the Roman roads and how they worked\, how they were  constructed\, and why they were so sturdy. DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand!Join us for 2 hours of snow tubing at Zip N Slip (NC) on Thursday\, January 8 from 12–2 PM. We’ll have the entire snow park to ourselves! Large snowmakers ensure tubing even in warm weather\, and the location sits beside NCDOT\, so roads are typically clear even if icy conditions occur. \nPayment is due on-site. Registration below for every participant is still required to save your spot.If you do not receive a confirmation email with tickets\, your registration is not complete\, and we cannot guarantee participation. \nCost: \n\n$20 per person over 3 (this is an amazing homeschool discount!). \n\nPayment due on-site (Cash/Check/Card accepted).\n\n\nAges 3–5: Free with a paying adult (still reserve a ticket for headcount).\n\nUnder age 3 not permitted tubing due to insurance. All family members can attend\, but they need to be able to stay seated for the entire presentation. If you must leave\, you will not be permitted to re-enter the planetarium. \nMaximum attendees is 125\, so if anyone from TR or GR wants to drive and attend\, there should be plenty of room.
