DESCRIPTION:You will begin your field trip at Strawberry Hill by loading onto our tractor-drawn wagon for a guided tour of the farm. Students will catch a glimpse of our corn\, strawberry\, peach\, and pumpkin fields as they ride! They will also get a first hand view of our irrigation pond. \nCost is $13 per person (including chaperones and siblings). Field Trip cost includes hayride\, visit with farm animals\, corn maze\, playground\, pie-sized pumpkin to take home\, and scoop of homemade vanilla or chocolate ice-cream. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an up close look at earth science! We will tour Vulcan Materials Rock Quarry in Pacolet\, SC on Friday\, September 29th. They will show an informational video and talk about what they do at Vulcan. The general presentation includes information about Vulcan Materials Company\, the use of minerals within society and particularly the role aggregates play in today’s world. There is also a discussion of the mining process\, how we produce aggregates\, the regulatory and permitting requirements and reclamation efforts. A safety talk is also included that addresses the safety requirements for the specific tour and group of visitors. Then we will jump on the bus and take a tour of the plant and see some VERY big equipment at work. We will visit the pit area to see where the mining takes place. They will have pizza for us and a goody bag!

Using artifacts from the 1800s\, students will assist with tasks around our historic log cabins\, learn about historic clothes and toys\, and make a dipped candle to take home! \nOur Farm Then & Now: Students will experience a bygone era of farming and rural life by participating in 1800s farm chores\, noting patterns of continuity and change as we observe plant needs\, pollination\, and seed dispersal while we work in our heritage garden; visit our blacksmith shop and one-room schoolhouse; and care for our farm animals. \nChaperones are needed for this trip and will be chosen by timestamp based on sign ups!

This is a nationwide event that we are excited to participate in.  We will take this time to pray for our school and our country and fellowship together with a light breakfast afterwards (muffins\, granola bars\, yogurts\, and fruit)! Students without a zero hour class are welcome to enjoy breakfast and hangout in the green space until first hour classes begin. \nParents\, are you able to help us provide breakfast for our students that day or attend the event? SUMMARY:Attractions Books Fundraiser Ends
DESCRIPTION:We are selling Attractions books to raise money for various student government funded projects throughout the year like our teacher appreciation luncheon\, hot chocolate parties\, high school dances\, and other fun activities! One book will be handed out to the oldest child in each family during the week of September 11-13th . We are asking each family to buy or sell one $25 coupon book. You will find more information on the envelopes inside the books. To purchase a book you can send cash in the included envelope\, check made out to UHC or the easiest way is to pay online at attractionsbook.com/pay with EZpay Code: UHC2023. We have both Spartanburg and Greenville books available and others by request. If you’d like to exchange your book for a different county\, write a note on your envelope and turn it in. Hampton Heights and Church at the Mill students are welcome to hand in packets or return books to their teachers. Grace campus students can head to the student government table at lunch in the Student Center and gym with any returns\, payments\, or additional books. The deadline to purchase or sell books and turn in the money is September 27th. Any unsold books must also be returned by September 27th. DESCRIPTION:3RD GRADE ROPER MOUNTAIN SCIENCE CENTER FIELD TRIP -Natural Science Discovery \nAll 3rd graders are invited to attend a field trip at Roper Mountain Science Center! \nDiscover the Following:  \nTerrific Traits – Through handling and closely examining a variety of live animals\, students will discover ways in which these unique organisms have special traits that help them survive in their environments. \nFossils: As paleontologists\, students will observe mystery fossils to learn about life in our ancient past. Students will examine fossil specimens\, hunt for marine fossils in our fossil pit and visit our dinosaur trail. \nSurvivor: “The tribe has spoken…” Which animals have what it takes to thrive on islands? Through hands on games and activities\, students will learn about unique traits as well as difficult challenges that animals face that could determine whether or not they thrive\, struggle\, or fail to survive. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with live animals that call the islands their home. \nLife Cycles: All organisms go through changes of growth and development in their life cycles. In this lesson\, students will observe differences in life cycles from young to adult using live animals. Students will compare the unique and diverse life cycles among insects\, reptiles\, amphibians\, marine creatures\, and so much more! \nChaperones are needed for this trip and will be chosen by timestamp based on sign ups!
