SUMMARY:GVL High School- Lumineux Chocolate Tour and Tasting
DESCRIPTION:A tour of our Lumineux Chocolate in Travelers Rest learning about how chocolate is made. This will include tasting through 3 different varieties of chocolate and learning about the cocoa origins for each one of them. Each participant will get to work together to create their own chocolate variety. The chocolate will need to run for 2-3 days\, and when it is finished\, we will mold it up into bars and package it\, then each kid will get a bar for themselves. SUMMARY:SPT: 6th-12th Strawberry Hill Corn Maze and Ice Cream
DESCRIPTION:UHC Middle and High School students can join us on Friday\, October 11 at Strawberry Hill from 10:30-12:30. We will meet at the Shed at Cooley Farms to go through the corn maze. After the maze we will walk across to the Cafe for ice cream. The cost of the corn maze is $10 per person and ice cream options range from $4-8 per person. Cash is recommended as they charge a service fee for card. Please see the attached link for more information about Strawberry Hill. This event coincides with the UHC elementary field trip to Strawberry Hill\, allowing our Middle and High School students hang out while our Elementary students enjoy their field trip. \nChaperones are needed\, please let us know if you are willing to assist.

DESCRIPTION:The UHC Elementary Strawberry Hill Field Trip will take place on Friday\, October 11\, 2024 at 10:30 am for K3 – 5th graders\, but older and younger siblings can join also\, if you like. The field trip cost is $14 per person\, both children and adults. This fun farm trip will include a hay ride to the Strawberry Hill outdoor play area\, interacting with farm animals (bring quarters to feed the animal\, if you like)\, a baking size pumpkin and an ice cream. \nEach family will pay Strawberry Hill directly for the field trip on 10/11. Plan to arrive a few minutes early for this so the hay ride can leave on time at 10:30 am. The children always enjoy the play area with their friends!

SUMMARY:SPT: K3-5th Field Trip - Sassy Stables
DESCRIPTION:This is a 2 hour field trip from 1pm to 3pm on Friday\, October 4th\, 2024 for Spartanburg s K3 thru 5th graders. Students will be divided into 4 groups for various learning stations based on age\, to include a ride on a guided horse\, horse painting\, and horse care. This is a fun\, outdoor trip\, so plan and dress accordingly.\nParents are encouraged to stay\, but they must stay for children in K3-K5\, or make arrangements for another parent to assist your child. This is a small\, sweet\, home farm so space is limited. Parents who stay can only have babies in arms\, though\, no other non-participating siblings. We need at least 3 parents to be able to stay to help with supervision for kids in grades 1st thru 5th.. When you register\, please let us know if you can stay. \nIf there are non-participating siblings\, suggestions are that you can visit Holston Creek Park or Campbell’s Covered Bridge (both less than 10 minute drives) while your student is at Sassy Stables. There is a $15 fee per student for this field trip that needs to be paid in advance. There is no fee for parents who stay during the field trip. We need a minimum of 20 children for this field trip.

Suggested minimum donation is $5 per child\, collected the day of the program. \nStudents will use the low ropes course to engage in team building activities\, aimed at getting to know their classmates.\nParents will need to remain on site\, but can bring older or younger children with them. DESCRIPTION:USC Upstate Watershed Ecology Center – Stream Ecology \n60 minute program / $1 per student\, which should be paid in cash the day of the event to USC. \n3rd thru 5th grade students will test water quality and talk about how animals survive in the water. They will also be going into the stream for part of this program. Wear or bring shoes to go in the water; no one can go in barefoot.  If you do not have other siblings\, please plan to stay with your child for the program. \nParents and siblings can remain on site and tour the arboretum or explore the stream in a separate area during this program\, with parental supervision.  Everyone needs to wear shoes to go in the stream. \nWe will have the use of the pavilion after the program if you would like to bring a picnic lunch. You may want to bring a towel and change of clothes\, sunscreen and bug spray.

DESCRIPTION:We are selling Attractions books to raise money for all of the student government funded projects throughout the year like our teacher appreciation luncheon\, hot chocolate parties\, high school dances\, and other fun activities for elementary\, middle and high school! One book will be handed out to the oldest child in each family during the week of September 16th . We are asking each family to buy or sell one $25 coupon book. You will find more information on the envelopes inside the books. To purchase a book you can pay online at attractionsbook.com/pay with EZpay Code: UHC2024. We will not be accepting cash or checks this year.  \n  \nAny unsold books can be turned back in BUT they have to be in the NEW condition\, as received\, or you will be charged for the book(s) that are damaged.  Take good care of the books!  Heads up – don’t leave in heat or direct sun or in conditions where they can get damaged. \n  \nWe have both Spartanburg and Greenville books available and others by request. If you’d like to exchange your book for a different county\, write a note on your envelope and turn it in.
