Students will use various materials and cutting tools to design and build one (or more) projects. Examples include a floating hummingbird\, a periscope\, a rolling roller-coaster\, and a bouncy skee-ball game.\nStudents bring: pencil\, ruler or measuring tape\, hot glue gun with extra glue sticks\, scissors\, x-acto knife \n\nMrs. Dori Impson will teach students Chemistry through the creation of an Alka-Seltzer Powered Lava Lamp \n\nOverview:  Students will learn about the effect of heat upon a chemical reaction as they make lava lamps using Alka-Seltzer. By applying the Scientific Method\, we will discuss how heat can be a catalyst in chemical reactions by speeding up the movement of molecules. \nStudents bring: Pencil \n\nMrs. Claudia Simpson   \n\nOverview:  Students will be Building Straw and Paper Towers.  Given a specific amount of teacher provided supplies\, students will create then test the strength of their towers.    \nStudents bring: Pencil\n\nMrs. Anna Humphries : Coral Reef Biomes \n\nOverview: Students will be focusing on aquatic biomes\, specifically coral reefs. DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, December 6th\, Spartanburg students in K3-5th Grade are invited to attend a workshop at Paint-It-Up in Chesnee to make a Christmas Gift for their parents. Students in K3-K5 will attend between 1 and 2 pm. A parent will need to stay and assist the child. This gift will take about 15 – 20 minutes\, so you can drop in anytime between 1 and 2 pm. \nStudents in grades 1 – 5 will attend the workshop from 2 -3 pm. This will be a drop off event if they would like to make it a surprise\, but you are welcome to stay if you choose. Parents can hang out with siblings at the small park in Chesnee or walk around this cute town. There is also a playground about 4 minutes away by car at 302 E. Manning St. Chesnee. \nCost is $15 per child and will be paid directly to Paint it up upon registration. DESCRIPTION:This Field Trip for Spartanburg 3rd thru 5th graders (only) will take place on Wednesday\, January 15th at 10:00 am. This is a 2 hour (drop off) tour about Faith and Technology. This will include information regarding televison production and Alight Ministry. It also includes a tour of the broadcast studio for Z Radio\, both at First Baptist Spartanburg\, 250 East Main Street\, 29306. \nThis is sure to be a fun\, informative tour led by Britt Dillard. There is no cost for this field trip\, but space is limited\, so sign up today. We will need 3 chaperones\, but siblings cannot attend due to space constraints. Please plan to arrive by 9:50 so we can start promptly at 10 am. We will meet at the Welcome Center in back of the main church\, across from Barnett Park.

SUMMARY:GVL: Zip N Slip Snow Tubing
DESCRIPTION:Join us for 2 hours of tubing at Zip N Slip in NC on Thursday\, January 16 from 11-1. We will have the whole snow park to ourselves! Each ticket is only $15 per person due to a HUGE homeschool discount! Children ages 3-5 are free with a paying adult. Children under the age of 3 are not allowed down the slope due to their insurance regulations. The facility has large snow makers so the event will still be on even in an unseasonably warm January day. Bring a change of clothing just in case. After tubing\, they provide marshmallows to roast. They do have chocolate bars for sale or you’re welcome to bring your own goodies to make a full s’more. Feel free to pack a lunch but don’t worry about bringing anything other than water. They have the best homemade hot chocolate (cocoa\, sugar\, milk) and cider in the WNC. The facility takes “all forms of payment.” Payment will be due on site when you arrive. We just need a headcount of who is attending\, feel free to bring friends! \nPlease fill out this waiver prior to attending: https://zipnslip.com/waiver/ \nAndy\, the owner of Zip n Slip\, also says that he is happy to distribute any donations we bring for the WNC relief efforts. I’d love if we could bless the area with any winter gear (new/gently used) for him to pass out to his neighbors and churches that have been affected by the flooding.
