SUMMARY:GVL UHC Parent Training Seminar for IEW Writing Courses 2026
DESCRIPTION:This training seminar is mandatory for parents enrolling students in the following Institute for Excellence in Writing courses at UHC: \n\n3rd Grade IEW\n4th Grade IEW\n5th Grade IEW\nIEW 1\, 6th Grade for Sixth Graders NEW to UHC\nIEW 1\, 7th-8th Grade for Seventh or Eighth Graders NEW to UHC\n\nThe UHC Parent Training Seminar for IEW writing courses at UHC is 4 hours long and includes a combination of a recorded training and live Q&A sessions. IEW’s founder\, Andrew Pudewa\, introduces the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style method of teaching writing briefly covering the nine units of structure and introducing several stylistic techniques. Participants will gain insight into why this method is so effective in teaching even the most reluctant writer. UHC Staff and IEW teachers will provide live Q&A sessions where they will explain how UHC applies IEW’s structure and style models in our writing classes. UHC staff and teachers will also offer parents the opportunity to ask questions and share input. \nThis seminar will be held at the Grace Church campus of UHC\, in the Worship Center.   Families with students attending GVL\, SPT\, or TR campuses may attend this seminar. \nFind More Details: UHC Parent Training for IEW Writing Courses \nMaterials and Fees: Each attendee will need the handbook Teaching Writing: Structure and Style\, Third Edition. Note:  Second Edition used copies are also acceptable.  This resource is available at the IEW website or at Lifelong Learning Resources for $35. DESCRIPTION:March 9th @ 1:45 pm – 2:20 pm\n\n\nOn Tuesday\, March 9th\, 2027 at 1:45pm\, the 1st graders will present their history projects in the Student Center at CATM in a “Wax Museum” setting.  (If you are unfamiliar with a wax museum – students will stand all around the area and give short\, individual presentations to audience members as they come by).  Parents\, grandparents\, and younger siblings (not enrolled at co-op) are invited to the presentations. \n
