Your students will participate in an interactive educational farm lesson led by a farm tour guide; ride on a tractor-pulled wagon; pick their own quarter peck bag of apples\, explore a small educational corn maze; take a guided walk through the pumpkin patch and observe the life cycle\, and drink a cup of local fresh apple cider. \n**Space is limited. After we tour\, we will eat ice cream! The tour is about 1 1/2 hours long. \n-Please have your student wear their UHC t-shirt \n-Tour starts promptly at 10:00 am so arrive early! This is an outdoor tour so dress accordingly and you must wear CLOSED TOE shoes. Use restrooms ahead of tour time and bring water\, if you would like. Happy Cow suggest children take the tour on a full stomach as the farm “SMELLS” are easier to handle that way. \n-Paying older siblings are welcome to join in! \nThere is no cost for siblings younger than 3. \n-There is a picnic area for lunch after the tour\, if you are interested. Parents will need to pay and stay with their children. \n-While this is a Spartanburg Elementary tour\, the other campuses are welcome to join\, if you would like\, since Happy Cow can accommodate a fairly large group. \nLast day to register is 10/10. DESCRIPTION:This outdoor fun event will take place on Friday\, March 7th at 1 pm at Fire Pit Ranch in Spartanburg. This is a combined team building Low Ropes Course for BOTH Spartanburg and Greenville 3rd thru 5th Graders ONLY. Students will use the low ropes course to engage in team building activites aimed at learning to work together as a team\, with maybe a GVL vs SPT competition. \nPlease ONLY sign up 3rd thru 5th Graders for this event. You can bring younger or older siblings along\, but they will not be participating in the low ropes course and do not need to be signed up. This is a beautiful property with a lake where you can walk around with the siblings or you can watch the team building event. DESCRIPTION:Open to all ages for Spartanburg UHC\, join us for snow tubing at Zip n Slip in Mars Hill\, NC on Monday\, January 27th 11:00am-1:00pm. $15/rider for 2 hours (which is a HIGHLY discounted rate. The owners are former homeschoolers and have a heart for homeschooling which is why they are offering this rate). Ages 3-5 are free if riding on a parent’s lap. Ages 2 and under may not tube\, but they can play in the snow and they will give you a tube to pull them around on if you’d like. After tubing\, warm up around with the fire roasting marshmallows. Feel free to pack a lunch as there are picnic tables on the property. There are also a few restaurants nearby they recommended that could use the business. SUMMARY:SPT 3rd-5th Walnut Grove Plantation Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided tour of Walnut Grove Plantation on Friday\, March 29th at 10:30am-1:15pm. Step back in history as we tour the Manor House\, kitchen cabin\, academy\, grounds\, cemetery and complete a living history activity which will be making a colonial toy! Pack a lunch to enjoy at the picnic pavilion. Cost is $6 per student\, $5 per adult. Must be paid when you register.\nItinerary for the day as follows: \nITINERARY: \n10:30-10:45: Arrival & Introduction – Please park in the gravel parking area just beyond the Visitors Center\nparking lot. The group should remain in their vehicles or in the parking area while the group leader comes\ninto the Visitors Center to check in. A staff member will then come out to welcome the group to the site\, and\norganize your group into two even halves. This process moves more quickly if everyone (ALL students and\nadults) in your group is already divided into halves before you arrive. For the guided tour\, we may further\ndivide the halves as needed. \n10:45-12:15: Guided Tour & Living History Activity – Half of the group takes the guided tour of the Manor\nHouse\, kitchen cabin\, and academy and half of the group completes the living history activity. Then\, the\nhalves will switch. If needed\, restroom breaks will take place during this switch. \n12:15-12:45: Lunch – At the picnic pavilion. Restrooms are also available at the pavilion for the group’s use.\nPlease be sure to take your trash bags to the dumpster after lunch. \n12:45-1:15: Grounds Tour & Gift Shop – On your own\, tour the plantation’s grounds–the outbuildings\,\ncemetery\, gardens and nature trail–usually in about 30-45 minutes. Students must be supervised at ALL\ntimes. If you’re planning to do so\, you may also visit the gift shop during this time. Groups of 10 students at\na time with an adult are allowed in the shop. A gift shop visit makes the trip special and helps us keep our\nadmission fees low. To assist you in this self-guided portion of the visit\, I’ve enclosed a plantation map full\nof historical information to make the grounds tour much more educational. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun-filled day in the snow at Zip n Slip Snow Tubing! Monday\, February 26th 11:00am-1:00pm. All ages welcome! $15/person. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a field trip to the Greenville Pavilion for a tour of the ice skating facility and learning how it all works. They will do an overview of what they do there\, how they sharpen skates\, ice maintenance tools\, some snow play and finish up with ice skating! Cost is $11.05/student. One chaperone per 5 students allowed. Chaperones chosen will be based on timestamp of registration. Feel free to pack a lunch! DESCRIPTION:Join us for a look back in history at Cowpens Battlefield on Friday\, November 3rd\, 2023 at 10:00am. We will divided into two age groups. There will be a 15-30 minute video in the theater on the Battle of Cowpens and then the tour guide will lead us on a 1 hour walking tour of the battlefield. There is a museum and also picnic shelters to enjoy your packed lunch and an additional hiking trail if you wish to stay after. Siblings are welcome. SUMMARY:SPT 3rd-5th Rock Quarry Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an up close look at earth science! We will tour Vulcan Materials Rock Quarry in Pacolet\, SC on Friday\, September 29th. They will show an informational video and talk about what they do at Vulcan. The general presentation includes information about Vulcan Materials Company\, the use of minerals within society and particularly the role aggregates play in today’s world. There is also a discussion of the mining process\, how we produce aggregates\, the regulatory and permitting requirements and reclamation efforts. A safety talk is also included that addresses the safety requirements for the specific tour and group of visitors. Then we will jump on the bus and take a tour of the plant and see some VERY big equipment at work. We will visit the pit area to see where the mining takes place. They will have pizza for us and a goody bag!

DESCRIPTION:You will begin your field trip at Strawberry Hill by loading onto our tractor-drawn wagon for a guided tour of the farm. Students will catch a glimpse of our corn\, strawberry\, peach\, and pumpkin fields as they ride! They will also get a first hand view of our irrigation pond. \nCost is $13 per person (including chaperones and siblings). Field Trip cost includes hayride\, visit with farm animals\, corn maze\, playground\, pie-sized pumpkin to take home\, and scoop of homemade vanilla or chocolate ice-cream.
