SUMMARY:SPT 3rd-9th Cowpens Battlefield Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a look back in history at Cowpens Battlefield on Friday\, November 3rd\, 2023 at 10:00am. We will divided into two age groups. There will be a 15-30 minute video in the theater on the Battle of Cowpens and then the tour guide will lead us on a 1 hour walking tour of the battlefield. There is a museum and also picnic shelters to enjoy your packed lunch and an additional hiking trail if you wish to stay after. Siblings are welcome. Please see the attached link if you would like more educational information in preparation for the field trip. There are also other resources on their website. There is no cost for this field trip.

SUMMARY:SPT 3rd-5th Rock Quarry Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an up close look at earth science! We will tour Vulcan Materials Rock Quarry in Pacolet\, SC on Friday\, September 29th. They will show an informational video and talk about what they do at Vulcan. The general presentation includes information about Vulcan Materials Company\, the use of minerals within society and particularly the role aggregates play in today’s world. There is also a discussion of the mining process\, how we produce aggregates\, the regulatory and permitting requirements and reclamation efforts. A safety talk is also included that addresses the safety requirements for the specific tour and group of visitors. Then we will jump on the bus and take a tour of the plant and see some VERY big equipment at work. We will visit the pit area to see where the mining takes place. They will have pizza for us and a goody bag!

SUMMARY:SPT K3-5th grade Strawberry Hill Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:You will begin your field trip at Strawberry Hill by loading onto our tractor-drawn wagon for a guided tour of the farm. Students will catch a glimpse of our corn\, strawberry\, peach\, and pumpkin fields as they ride! They will also get a first hand view of our irrigation pond. \nCost is $13 per person (including chaperones and siblings). Field Trip cost includes hayride\, visit with farm animals\, corn maze\, playground\, pie-sized pumpkin to take home\, and scoop of homemade vanilla or chocolate ice-cream. Feel free to bring a packed lunch for the picnic area or purchase lunch in their cafe! \nStudents will learn about plant and animal science\, including:\n• Basic needs of a pumpkin plant\n• Life cycle and structure of a pumpkin plant\n• Weather effects\, including seasonal changes on a farm\n• Importance of pollination & use of honey bees\n• Basic needs of farm animals\n• Visit with our calves\, pigs\, chickens\, goats\, and big pig “Victoria”\n• Relevance of irrigation system
