We will explore these and many other questions about how organisms survive in their environment during this exploration.\nThis field trip is completely outdoors so dress accordingly and pack a lunch. Kate’s Kitchen serves lunch\, ice cream and bakery items. This is a combined team building Low Ropes Course for BOTH Spartanburg and Greenville 3rd thru 5th Graders ONLY. Students will use the low ropes course to engage in team building activites aimed at learning to work together as a team\, with maybe a GVL vs SPT competition. \nPlease ONLY sign up 3rd thru 5th Graders for this event. You can bring younger or older siblings along\, but they will not be participating in the low ropes course and do not need to be signed up. This is a beautiful property with a lake where you can walk around with the siblings or you can watch the team building event. DESCRIPTION:Join us at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate in Greenville. This is a Spartanburg Elementary field trip for K3-5th graders (and any siblings). We will meet at TCMU at 11:30 am on Friday\, February 28\, 2025. The cost is $8 per person for both students and adults. Payment is required in advance. Children under one year old are free. (This is a savings from the normal cost of $10 for educators or $13 for SC residents.) \nThe address is 300 College Street\, Greenville SC 29601. The lunch room is reserved for us from 12:30 to 1:00 if you would like to bring something to eat. You are permitted to stay as long as you would like at the museum. UHC must pay for this field trip in full on 2/14/25\, so no refunds will be issued after 2/13/25. Sign ups will close on 2/13/25.

DESCRIPTION:Sassy Stables at 570 Barnett Rd in Greer – This is a 2 hour field trip from 10:30 am to 12:30 on Friday\, November 22\, 2024 for Spartanburg K3 – 5th Graders. Students will be divided into groups per age and will rotate through learning stations to include a guided horse ride\, horse painting and horse care. This is an outdoor event so dress accordingly. \nParents are encouraged to stay\, but non-participating siblings cannot stay (only babies in arms are permitted)\, due to limited space at this small\, sweet farm. Paid siblings (k3-5th grade ages) are permitted to participate\, even if they do not attend UHC. Parents must attend for K3 – K5 students. Please let us know at registration if you will be staying. \nSuggestions for those who do not stay due to siblings. This is a small\, sweet\, home farm so space is limited. Parents who stay can only have babies in arms\, though\, no other non-participating siblings. We need at least 3 parents to be able to stay to help with supervision for kids in grades 1st thru 5th.. When you register\, please let us know if you can stay. \nIf there are non-participating siblings\, suggestions are that you can visit Holston Creek Park or Campbell’s Covered Bridge (both less than 10 minute drives) while your student is at Sassy Stables. There is a $15 fee per student for this field trip that needs to be paid in advance. There is no fee for parents who stay during the field trip. We need a minimum of 20 children for this field trip.

SUMMARY:SPT 3rd -5th Grade: USC Upstate Watershed Ecology Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:USC Upstate Watershed Ecology Center – Stream Ecology \n60 minute program / $1 per student\, which should be paid in cash the day of the event to USC. \n3rd thru 5th grade students will test water quality and talk about how animals survive in the water. They will also be going into the stream for part of this program. Wear or bring shoes to go in the water; no one can go in barefoot.  If you do not have other siblings\, please plan to stay with your child for the program. \nParents and siblings can remain on site and tour the arboretum or explore the stream in a separate area during this program\, with parental supervision.  Everyone needs to wear shoes to go in the stream. \nWe will have the use of the pavilion after the program if you would like to bring a picnic lunch. You may want to bring a towel and change of clothes\, sunscreen and bug spray.
