DESCRIPTION:When: Wednesday\, March 11\, 2026\nTime: 9:30 am to 1:00 pm\nWhere: Conestee Nature Preserve\n480 Conestee Rd\, Greenville SC\nCost: $10 per student grades 1st – 5th \nIMPORTANT DETAILS \n\nProgram: The Fire and the Flood\nHow do plants deal with flooding? Where do animals go when it’s hot or cold? We will explore these and many other questions about how organisms survive in their environment during this exploration.\nThis field trip is completely outdoors so dress accordingly and pack a lunch. Details will be sent out after sign up.\nMoms with younger or older children: You are welcome to have fun at the Nature Preserve and the new Playscape there\, but siblings will not be allowed to accompany students on the field trip.\nWe need 4 to 5 chaperones who do not have siblings.\nSpace for this field trip is limited. Please make sure to cancel your ticket\, or contact us if your family registers but is no longer able to attend.\n\nLast day to register (capacity allowing) is 3/8.  No refunds will be given after 3/5.

SUMMARY:TR ELEM Conestee Nature Preserve Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Students will discover similarities and differences of freshwater systems through interactive experiments and observations of the Reedy River and Lake Conestee. \n\nField trips take place outdoors.\nK5-5th grade participants can expect to walk 1-2 miles.\nOnce we all arrive at 9:15\, the group will be split into two groups of 25 students with 5 chaperones each.\nEach chaperone will be in charge of overseeing 5 students during the duration of the field trip.\n\nParticipants will need to pack a lunch as we will break for lunch and end the field trip at 1 pm. \nIf the weather does not cooperate\, the nature preserve will cancel the morning of\, and will do their best to reschedule the trip to another time. \nThis is a drop-off event. After you pick up your child from their chaperone\, feel free to stay and play at the Conestee Nature Playscape to meet other UHC families. This is optional and all younger siblings are welcome at this point. \nTickets are $10.61 per student. Last day to register is 10/1. No refunds will be issued after registration ends.

DESCRIPTION:*CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER* Too cold!! The temps would be high 20’s when we arrived and not getting above mid 40s all day\, and it’s all outside. Possible reschedule later! \nStudents will walk the trails to the water with a certified guide to perform visual stream surveys\, chemical tests\, and collect aquatic invertebrates to determine the water quality of the Reedy River. Some of the historic information of Conestee will be covered as well. \n*They do offer the opportunity to wear boots and get in the water during the collection time. This isn’t necessary so students can choose whether or not they get in. There is no need to get wet besides feet. \n$10/student $5/adult.
