SUMMARY:The Impact of Stress and Anxiety on Learning- Learning Differences Parent Training
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a parent training on The Impact of Stress and Anxiety on Learning led by Anna Hunt.\nWhere:  UHC’s Hampton Heights campus in Room 110.  Enter the building via Door B. \nWhen:  Wednesday\, February 26th from 1:30 – 2:30pm \nAnna Hunt Bio: \nI’m a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience in providing comprehensive psychological assessments to children\, adolescents\, and young adults experiencing a variety of cognitive\, academic\, social\, and emotional issues. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Georgia and my Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. In graduate school\, I gained extensive training in assessment within school\, clinical\, medical\, and research settings. As part of my training\, I moved to Greenville to complete an assessment-focused internship and postdoctoral residency at Prisma’s Department of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. After deciding I was ready to call Greenville home\, I spent 8 years working at Clarity: The Speech\, Hearing\, and Learning Center. In 2014\, I partnered with Drs. Batson and Williams in establishing Greenville Assessment & Learning Specialists (GALS)\, where assessment is our passion. \nAt GALS\, I enjoy working with children and their caregivers to better understand their unique profile of strengths and challenges\, and what might help them be more successful. Because every case is unique\, I strive to provide a tailored assessment battery designed to answer specific referral concerns. The goal of this individualized approach is to provide clients and their families with a road map to build on their strengths\, address specific areas of challenge\, and support their future needs. \nOn a personal note\, I grew up in Tennessee and Georgia before settling down in South Carolina. My husband and I love living in Greenville\, where we met and are now raising our two children and two pets\, a golden retriever and a leopard gecko. I enjoy spending my free time with family and friends\, traveling\, being outdoors\, reading\, and cooking.

SUMMARY:Storm Backpack Project
DESCRIPTION:We have a special opportunity to get our UHC community and especially our students involved in serving other students in western NC! Due to Hurricane Helene\, many kids are out of school and have lost all their school supplies. We are partnering with a group of local moms to fill that need! The goal is to fill 2\,000 backpacks with books and school supplies by the end of October.  \nHere is where you come in! We would love for you to involve your kids and gather some or all the following items specifically\, new or gently used: \n\nBackpacks\nColored pencils\nCrayons\nPencil boxes/pouches\nPencil sharpeners\nQuality chapter books for 3rd grade and up as we have enough younger aged books\n\nAdditionally\, we desire to place a card from a local child in each backpack. This is a special way to encourage the children in NC who have been through so much. Use this as a special writing assignment for your students one day this week and drop off the cards at your campus. \nYou can drop off supplies and cards at every campus next week\, Oct 28-30. Look for the sign designating Storm backpack project drop off. \nGrace Church: \nMonday\, October 28th and Wednesday\, October 30th – at the carline back door \nHampton Heights: \nMonday\, October 28th and Wednesday\, October 30th – outside of door A \nSpartanburg: \nTuesday\, October 29th ONLY – in carline \n\nThere are also online wishlists for those who would prefer to pick out things online\, or want to share the need with your friends. That list can be found here: https://mom2momnccomdomainonly.wordpress.com/books-backpacks-shopping-list/ \nIf shopping through Amazon\, please select RachelFarrell’s Gift Registry as a shipping address during checkout. \nThis is a simple way to show our children to serve and love others\, especially kids just like them. \nIf you have any questions\, please text one of our UHC Moms organizing this project:  Rachel Wong @ 434-229-7176 \nThanks for your help!
