*8th-grade students taking 2 high school classes may take 1 Focused Study Class.
Course Description
- This class will have a teacher who will oversee class work and monitor computer use
- UHC cell phone policy applies to this class in the same way that it does all instructional classes, unless otherwise stated by the teacher.
- This class will follow the same rules as any other formal class with no talking, and no leaving the room without teacher permission; the one exception is that students may listen to music on their phone or iPod using earbuds or headphones.
- Parents are required to submit a one-time detailed lesson plan showing what the student should be doing during this hour each day at co-op.
- The teacher will collect lesson plans and keep them in a notebook for reference during the school year.
- The teacher will oversee student work and answer questions or offer other help as needed.
- In the event that a student’s work assignment changes, the parent will need to send in a new lesson plan.
- If at any time during the year a student says that he has no school work for this hour, the parents will be called and asked to verbally submit work, physically bring work to Co-op, or pick up the student and remove him from the UHC Campus.
- Failure to comply with these classroom rules will result in the student being removed from the Focused Study Class with the understanding that he must be removed from campus during this hour each co-op day, and that there will be no refund of the class fee.
