Q: If I request a class and find out it’s full, when or how will I be able to get a second chance for sign ups? When you attend the on-site enrollment you will find out real-time if you were able to enroll your student in the class you desire. If those classes are full, you may either choose to be put on the waiting list for that class, or if your student is in 7th-12th grades, you may choose to enroll your student in your second choice class while there.
Q: How do I view current class availability?
View these instructions.
Q: I am a current member of one campus (Gvl/Spt), but would like to transfer to the other campus (Gvl/Spt) next year. Do I get priority enrollment at my desired campus? What does that enrollment process look like?
Members get equal priority enrollment with other members at their current campus, and priority over new members at the desired campus. If you desire to transfer campuses, you will need to waitlist the classes you desire at that campus. Once all current members at the desired campus have enrolled, you may then enroll on that campus. Thus, you get priority enrollment over new members, but not current members that attend that campus presently.
The enrollment process for this situation is as follows:
- Complete online pre-enrollment.
- You will be given an enrollment appointment at your current campus.
- At your enrollment appointment, you may enroll at your current campus and waitlist your desired campus. We suggest enrolling at your current campus in the case that spots are not available at the end of current member enrollment on the desired campus.
- If/when spots become available for your desired campus, the appropriate director(s) will notify you, and the Registrar will assign an enrollment appointment for you at the beginning of the day on New Member Enrollment #1 at the desired campus. We will transfer your enrollment at this appointment.
- If the classes you need were to not be available at the end of current member enrollment, you may remain on the waitlist for the desired campus and would receive first priority over new members waitlisting classes.
Q: Can I enroll my student after classes have started? Middle & High School Enrollment is closed after the last summer enrollment day, with the following exceptions: Students currently on a waiting list and high school students wishing to enroll for second-semester-only classes. Elementary will sometimes enroll a student mid year depending on the grade/class if there are openings.
Q: Can I specify which elementary grade schedule I want for my child?
When enrolling, you will not be able to specify which schedule your child will follow. Simply enroll for the appropriate grade and your child will be placed in one of the class sections for that grade.
Q: Do I have to pay anything if my child is put on the waiting list? No, if a spot opens for your child, you will pay then.
Q: If I am a new member, what are my chances of getting in the classes I want? We have no way of knowing the likelihood of getting in any particular class. We take enrollments on a first-come basis. We will open waiting lists for any full classes and fill open spots from the waiting lists as they occur.
Q: Are there openings for my child/children? There is no way of knowing the likelihood of getting in any particular class. UHC holds an Enrollment Day for current members first in early spring. Generally, two weeks later UHC holds Open Enrollment for potential new members to fill remaining openings.
Q: How do I get a spot in line on new member enrollment day? Please read the enrollment instructions for new members above. Appointments are assigned in the order in which you complete online pre-enrollment.
Q: Do you keep waiting lists and do they transfer from year to year? We will open waiting lists for any full classes. Waiting lists do not transfer from year to year. When a spot opens for a wait-listed student, the appropriate level Director-, elementary, middle school, or high school, will immediately contact the parent.
Q: I’m a new member. If one of my children is able to enroll into a co-op class, does that guarantee a spot for my other children the following school year? Your new student does not have priority over other current members (i.e, a student who attended last year and is in the same classes you desire for your new student will have priority over your new student); however, your new student will have priority over new members enrolling at new member enrollments.
Q: If I am a current member, is my child guaranteed a spot in co-op the following year? If your student is a currently enrolled Preschool-6th grader, he/she will be guaranteed a spot at your current campus if the parent follows the enrollment procedures as outlined. If the currently enrolled student is a rising 7th-12th grader, and the parent follows the enrollment procedures, the parent will be allowed to enroll early with current families and will be more likely to get the classes desired.
