Enrollment

Enrollment at UHC is a two-step process: Online Pre-Enrollment & On-Site Enrollment

Please make the appropriate selection for your family:

Online Pre-Enrollment

Online Pre-Enrollment is the first step in enrolling in new classes for the upcoming school year at UHC and is the process by which you register for an appointment at an On-Site Enrollment Day. Online pre-enrollment opens for current members on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 8am. You will complete a form gathering information regarding your family and your education needs.

Following your completion of online pre-enrollment, our Registrar will assign an appointment for you at an on-site enrollment day. Appointments for on-site enrollment day will be published on Monday, March 4th for current members.

After receiving your enrollment appointment, you must complete this family intake form before you attend your on-site enrollment day.

On-Site Enrollment Day

At On-Site Enrollment Day, the teaching parent will:

  • Meet with an administrator for a guidance counselor-type interview
  • Discuss and finalize student schedule with directors
  • Sign up for parent assistant hours
  • Purchase car tags
  • Sign up for mailing lists
  • Enroll student(s) for classes
  • Meet with a member of our finance team to make payments and set up payment plans

Online Senior Class Reservation will be held on March 26, 2024. This is an opportunity for current members to reserve spaces in the classes their seniors need in order to graduate. Instructions for this online process will be emailed to rising senior parents on Monday, March 18, 2024. Online pre-enrollment and attending an on-site enrollment appointment is still required for rising seniors. Participating in online senior class reservation will save spots in classes for students, but it does not complete the enrollment process for them for the 2024-2025 school year.

General FAQs:

Q:  How do I sign up for ‘24-’25 Student ID and Yearbook Portraits?

  • Grades K3-11th grade students sign up HERE.
  • Seniors sign up HERE.

Q:  If I request a class and find out it’s full, when or how will I be able to get a second chance for sign ups? When you attend the on-site enrollment you will find out real-time if you were able to enroll your student in the class you desire.  If those classes are full, you may either choose to be put on the waiting list for that class, or if your student is in 7th-12th grades, you may choose to enroll your student in your second choice class while there.

Q:  Are there openings for my child/children? There is no way of knowing the likelihood of getting in any particular class. UHC holds an Enrollment Day for current members first in early spring.  Generally, two weeks later UHC holds Open Enrollment for potential new members to fill remaining openings.

Q: How do I view current class availability?
View these instructions.

Q: Can I enroll my student after classes have started? Middle & High School Enrollment is closed after the last summer enrollment day, with the following exceptions: Students currently on a waiting list and high school students wishing to enroll for second-semester-only classes.  Elementary will sometimes enroll a student mid year depending on the grade/class if there are openings.

Q: Can I specify which elementary grade schedule I want for my child?
When enrolling, you will not be able to specify which schedule your child will follow.  Simply enroll for the appropriate grade and your child will be placed in one of the class sections for that grade.

Q: My elementary student is supposed to be waitlisted but isn’t showing up on the list. Are they waitlisted? Elementary Waitlists are managed by our elementary directors and are not viewable to the public. If an elementary class displays “Students Available: 0,” that class is full and may already have a waitlist. You will need to contact the appropriate elementary director to know the status of the waitlist.

Q:  Do I have to pay anything if my child is put on the waiting list? No, if a spot opens for your child, you will pay then.

Q:  Do you keep waiting lists and do they transfer from year to year? We will open waiting lists for any full classes. Waiting lists do not transfer from year to year. When a spot opens for a waitlisted student, the appropriate level Director-, elementary, middle school, or high school, will immediately contact the parent.

Current Member Enrollment FAQs:

Q: I am a current member of one campus (Gvl/Spt), but would like to transfer to the other campus (Gvl/Spt) next year. Do I get priority enrollment at my desired campus? What does that enrollment process look like?

Members get equal priority enrollment with other members at their current campus, and priority over new members at the desired campus. If you desire to transfer campuses, you will need to waitlist the classes you desire at that campus. Once all current members at the desired campus have enrolled, you may then enroll on that campus. Thus, you get priority enrollment over new members, but not current members that attend that campus presently.

The enrollment process for this situation is as follows:

  1. Complete online pre-enrollment.
  2. You will be given an enrollment appointment at your current campus.
  3. At your enrollment appointment, you may enroll at your current campus and waitlist your desired campus. We suggest enrolling at your current campus in the case that spots are not available at the end of current member enrollment on the desired campus.
  4. If/when spots become available for your desired campus, the appropriate director(s) will notify you, and the Registrar will assign an enrollment appointment for you at the beginning of the day on New Member Enrollment #1 at the desired campus. We will transfer your enrollment at this appointment.
  5. If the classes you need were to not be available at the end of current member enrollment, you may remain on the waitlist for the desired campus and would receive first priority over new members waitlisting classes.

Q: If I am a current member, is my child guaranteed a spot in co-op the following year? If your student is a currently enrolled Preschool-6th grader, he/she will be guaranteed a spot at your current campus if the parent follows the enrollment procedures as outlined. If the currently enrolled student is a rising 7th-12th grader, and the parent follows the enrollment procedures, the parent will be allowed to enroll early with current families and will be more likely to get the classes desired.

Q: I am currently enrolled but would like to switch to a different model (one vs two day) or a different day. Can I do that? What does the enrollment process look like for that? Priority is given to current students remaining in their current model/current day. If you would like to change your model/day section, you must waitlist your desired section, and if spots are available after current students have enrolled, we will move you into your desired section. With this in mind, we would recommend that you enroll in your current section so that you have a spot in a class guaranteed. Should you be able to transfer to your desired section, the appropriate director will notify you and our registrar will make that transfer remotely.

Q: I am a current member family and would like to enroll a student who did not attend UHC this year. How do I enroll my child that will be a new student? You will be able to enroll your new child at your current member enrollment appointment, but the new student does not get priority over current students. At your enrollment appointment, we will waitlist your new student in their classes. Once we have processed all enrollments for current students, we will move your new student into classes prior to enrolling new members at our first new member enrollment day. You will not be required to come in for an additional enrollment appointment.

Q: What is the order of priority enrollment for current members wishing to transfer campuses, transfer sections, or enroll new students?

A succinct order of enrollment is as follows:

  1. Current students remaining on their same campus and same model get first priority to enroll at the same campus and in the same model.
  2. Current students remaining on their same campus but desiring to change models will then be offered open spaces in those classes.
  3. Current students desiring to transfer campus will then be offered available spaces in their requested classes.
  4. After all current students have been enrolled, new students in current member families will then be offered available spots and allowed to enroll prior to new member families.
*please make note that classes may fill at any time once we begin enrolling students, so there is no guarantee that your desired class/section may be available; this is why we stress that it is important to enroll your student in their current class/section/campus where they are guaranteed a spot

New Member Enrollment FAQs:

Q:  If I am a new member, what are my chances of getting in the classes I want? We have no way of knowing the likelihood of getting in any particular class. We take enrollments on a first-come basis. We will open waiting lists for any full classes and fill open spots from the waiting lists as they occur.

Q:  How do I get a spot in line on new member enrollment day? Please read the enrollment instructions for new members above. Appointments are assigned in the order in which you complete online pre-enrollment.

Q: I’m a new member. If one of my children is able to enroll into a co-op class, does that guarantee a spot for my other children the following school year? Your new student does not have priority over other current members (i.e, a student who attended last year and is in the same classes you desire for your new student will have priority over your new student); however, your new student will have priority over new members enrolling at new member enrollments.
