2024-2025 School Year

Middle School Engineering GVL

Mondays only OR Wednesdays only

Course Description

This course is designed as an introductory study of engineering and architecture. It provides the opportunity for students to learn through hands-on projects, and teaches the processes and knowledge needed to solve real-world problems. Units include team-building, transportation, architecture, construction, graphic design, aerospace, and various “out of the box” problem-solving projects.

The course is an elective and is not a complete middle school science credit unless paired with completion of a text such as God’s Design for the Physical World: Inventions and Technology published by Answers in Genesis. Students can expect to spend 1-3 hours a week on homework assignments.

To be successful in this class:

Students must be able to work alone and in groups, follow directions, and complete in-class projects and assignments within the given time frame. Students must also be able to complete assignments to be done outside of class time by the given due date. Students must be able to learn various computer applications on their own, or seek help from the teacher, before assignments are due.
