This workshop is intended to refresh students in basic math skills before starting their Algebra 1 journey this upcoming school year. We will focus on reviewing the following topics:
*Fractions and decimals
*Symbols and expressions
*Exponential notation
*Signed numbers
*Factorization
*Number properties commonly used
*Introduction to writing and solving equations
*Graphing
*UHC Summer Assignment assistance
Students are required to have a copy of the Algebra 1 text used for the UHC Algebra 1 course. Algebra I – Classics Edition, Prentice Hall, ISBN 013133770-X. If you do not have a textbook or you are not a UHC student, please contact the instructor.
No homework will be assigned; however, students are expected to come to class ready to participate in all activities, discussions, and in-class work assigned. Please contact Brenda Schatz at [email protected] with any questions.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from University of Central Florida
Teaching experience: public and private school teaching in Florida and Hawaii (6 years); private tutor (20 years)
