GVL High School Student Orientation

August 12, 2024 from 1:00-4:00

ORIENTATION SCHEDULE FOUND AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE

BEFORE YOU COME:

  1. Read the UHC Student Handbook. (It is updated yearly, so there may be changes)
  2. Complete and submit the digital  Student Contract before attending orientation.
  3. Print your class schedule from Jupiter Ed. Follow these Instructions to print your classes and room numbers.
  4. Check your JE Inbox to see messages from your teachers concerning anything they want you to bring to orientation.
  5. Complete the EdPuzzle assignment in JE to earn a free ice cream treat at orientation.  If you do not complete this by midnight on August 11th, you will need to pay $1 for your ice cream at orientation.
  6. Wear your UHC ID that you received at your picture appointment.

Due to space constraints, parents will not rotate through the schedule with students; however, parents are invited to come in and meet the teachers before (1:00-1:30pm) or after (3:30- 4:00pm) the class rotation.

SUPPLIES REQUIRED  (per family):

Purchase and label each item with your last name:

  • ALL families – bring 1 Ream of copy paper per family AND
    • Last name A – M: 1 Box of tissues
    • Last name N – Z: 1 Roll of paper towels

Drop off supplies at the Student Center entrance during any on-campus event or in the car line the first week!

HIGH SCHOOL ORIENTATION SCHEDULE:

12:45-1:00
Students Arrive at the Main Lobby.
1:00-1:40High School Student Meeting in the Main Worship Center.
1:45-2:00Students go to Early hour class. (Focused study and those with no class remain in Worship Center.)
2:05- 2:20Students go to 1st hour class. (If no class, sit in Focused Study in the MPR)
2:25- 2:40Students go to 2nd hour class. (If no class, sit in Focused Study in the MPR)
2:45- 3:00Students go to 3rd hour class. (If no class, sit in Focused Study in the MPR)
3:05-3:20 Students go to 4th hour class. (If no class, sit in Focused Study in the MPR)
3:25-3:40Drone Aviation class meets (come for ice cream after Drone)
3:20-3:50 Ice cream social in the MPR and under the Portico . All students who have completed the JE training will get a free ice cream treat! All other students bring $1 for an ice cream treat.
