Dress Code

Students, staff, teachers, parent assistants, and guests on our campus must dress modestly and in accordance with their biological sex from birth at all times. Out of care and respect for each other, the Co-op’s definition of “modesty” includes the following guidelines:

FEMALES:

  • UHC adheres to the biblical tenet that God created only two genders, that He fashioned each one of us and thus designated our gender/sex.  Therefore, identifying oneself as a gender other than the gender assigned by God at birth is in opposition to the co-op’s community values.  Further, engaging in activities or making any efforts to distinguish or misrepresent one’s gender/sex to something other than the gender/sex biologically assigned at birth is prohibited.
  • While sleeveless tops are permitted, the strap width must be at least the width of your student ID.
  • Graphic t-shirts should be in line with the co-op’s statement of faith and mission.
  • Shorts may be worn only if the finished length comes down to or past the wearer’s finger-tips while standing in a relaxed position with arms hanging at sides.
  • Skirts or dresses may be worn only if they come down to or past the wearer’s fingertips while standing in a relaxed position with arms hanging at sides.  If worn with leggings, they must follow the legging/yoga pant rule (below).
  • Legging/yoga pants may be worn ONLY if the shirt/skirt/dress worn with them completely covers the wearer’s bottom in the back and front at all times.
  • Dress pants, casual pants, jeans, and capris may be worn. If jeans are ripped, there may be no tears above the fingertips when a student is standing in a relaxed position with arms hanging at sides.
  • Neckline should be modest and not revealing.
  • No skin may be seen between the person’s pants and shirt at any time.
  • Shoes must be worn; no roller blades, roller shoes (Heelys).
