Derek Turner

Derek and his wife Kim have been married since 1986 and have 5 children and two grandchildren. He has served as the Treasurer for Springwell Church since 1996 and was the Director of Finance for JPS Composite Materials for 30 years. He is currently the CFO for Safrit Real Estate Holdings. Derek has been on the UHC Board since the early years.

Suzanne Brown

Rex and Suzanne Brown have been married since 1989 and have 7 children: Abby (married to Craig Williams), Braxton, Knox and MacKenzie, Phillip (married to Lauren Turner), Ella and Brayden, Adam (married to Ellie Wilson), Walker, Charlotte and Waylon, Andrew (married to Lauren Biliter), Sam, Jacob and Sammy Yeargin. They have been homeschooling since 1995 and live on a small farm in Travelers Rest. Suzanne has degrees in education from Furman University and taught several years in the public school setting until their children were born. She is the Founder and Executive Director of the Upstate Homeschool Co-op which serves over 900 students and started in the Brown home in 1997. She serves on the state SCHEA board, as well. The Lord with His sense of humor gave the Browns no two children that learn alike. Her passions include working with developing young leaders, helping families make educational choices work effectively for their children, and being outside on her farm or in the woods.

Tim Williams

Tim and Michelle have been married since 1993 and have four children: Brentley, Brayden, Brody and Brenna who have all attended the co-op. Tim is a residential contractor. He enjoys hunting with his children and supporting them in their sports. In the past, Tim has coached the Hurricanes JV and Varsity basketball team and was the Basketball Program Director for 2 years. Tim and his family have been members of Fellowship Greenville for 28 years.

Johnnie Hall

Johnnie and Tonya Hall have been married since 1993 and have 4 children: Samuel (UHC alum and attending North Greenville University) and Emily (UHC alum and attending Clemson University) and Claire (10th grader) and Julia (2nd grader). Johnnie is a graduate of North Greenville and Furman University with a BA in History. Johnnie and Tonya served 18 years in Student Ministry. For the last 8 years, he has been enjoying his role as a Financial Advisor at Edward Jones in Greer. He is also the Program Director for the Hurricanes Football Program. When not spending time with his family, he enjoys hunting and traveling.

Geoff Osborn

Geoff & Brenna Osborn have been married since 2002 and have three children: Quinn, Riley and Grayson. They have been homeschooling since 2013 when their twins began kindergarten at UHC. Geoff graduated from Clemson University in 2002 and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2006. He is a shareholder and executive committee member at the law firm of Rogers Townsend and Thomas, PC where he works with business owners to manage risk and resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration and litigation. Geoff has served on nonprofit boards throughout his career, and he is an active member at Grace Church. Geoff loves spending time with his family, traveling to new places, cooking for family and friends, rooting for Clemson sports, and spending time outdoors.

Boo Beaty

Lemonta (Boo) and Nechelle have been married since 1994 and have 5 children: Kiarah, Karington, Kendall, Katelyn and Kayla. All children have been a part of UHC, and the older two currently attend the University of South Carolina. Boo has been employed by Michelin North America for 20 years and works at the research facility as a Product Test Technician. For the past 20 years he and his family have been attending The Bridge ARP Church in Simpsonville, where he serves on the session. He enjoys spending time with his family and playing basketball. Boo has been a part of the Greenville Hurricanes Basketball Program since 2012. He has coached the girls MS and Varsity teams and is currently in his third year as MS boys coach.

Melissa Sicko

Nathan and Melissa have been married since 2000 and have two girls, Kara and Meg. They began their homeschool journey when they enrolled their first daughter in K4 at UHC. Melissa graduated with a Bachelor of Science at Bob Jones University and obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from Clemson University. Melissa is a member at Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church and serves in a variety of children's ministries. She enjoys experimenting with new recipes amidst many Pinterest fails and working off calories at the YMCA. The family also enjoys kayaking, hiking, and camping and have visited all 47 state parks!

Dr. Tony Beam

Dr. Beam and his wife Denise have been married since 1980 and have three children and seven grandchildren. Dr. Beam holds a BA in Music Education from Limestone College, a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and an Ed.D Studies from North Greenville University. Dr. Beam is the Senior Director of Church and Community Engagement and Public Affairs at North Greenville, the Director of the Office of Public Policy for the SC Baptist Convention, a trustee for the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, and is the interim pastor at Impact Community Church in Spartanburg. Dr. Beam can also be heard on His Radio Talk 89.7 FM and 91.9 FM as he co-hosts Christian Worldview with Tony and Austin Monday-Friday from 7am to 9am.

Morris Younathan

Joining the Board of Directors in June of 2022, Morris Younathan lends his over 25 years of Architectural, Construction and Project Management experience to UHC. As a lead Architect with a prominent Architectural firm in Greenville, SC., Mr. Younathan has experience in Higher Education, Industrial, Aviation, Religious, Multi Family, Civic & Private Development. Mr. Younathan and his wife Cynthia are parents of two lovely children who currently attend UHC and are active members of Grace Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina. Mr. Younathan and his wife are committed to a robust homeschool education system. As a member of the board, he has committed to see UHC flourish, the children educated to the highest standards and the hearts of the students changed by the truths of the Gospel. Ps 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.

Mark Turner

Mark J. Turner has over 30 years experience in Healthcare Administration and is a Life Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Before retiring in 2020, he served Memorial Hospital for 16 years, serving the last 14 years as the CEO of Memorial Group and CEO of Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois and added the role of CEO of a second, new hospital, Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, Illinois which opened in 2016. He led the development of Memorial East, the first new hospital constructed in Illinois in over 20 years. During his tenure, Memorial received numerous patient satisfaction and quality of care awards and became the only Magnet-designated hospital in Illinois south of Springfield. Only 6% of US hospitals have received Magnet designation recognizing nursing excellence.

He served for 6 years on the board of the Illinois Hospital Association and was named to the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board in 2019.

He led the development of a strategic affiliation, completed in 2016, between Memorial Group and BJC Healthcare to enhance patient care in the communities previously served by Memorial Group.

Before joining Memorial in 2004, Turner served as vice president of operations for 10 years at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, North Carolina and spent 10 years in both clinical and administrative positions at Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge, Florida.

Prior to his health care career, he taught and coached in both the private and public school sectors.

Turner holds a master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in health care administration from Florida Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of Central Florida and a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Central Florida.

Turner has been active in the community throughout his career and has served on many community boards over the years including the Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois, McKendree University, the Greater St. Louis Council of the
Boys Scouts of America, Rebirth East St. Louis and the Administrative Council of Christ Church in Fairview Heights.

He has been recognized for his community involvement and has received the 2010 Distinguished Citizen Award from the Lewis and Clark Council of the Boy Scouts, the 2011 Citizen of Character Award from the city of Belleville, Illinois and the 2019 Citizen of the Year award from the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce.

Turner and his wife Mary Ann have two children and four grandchildren. They are active members of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Greenville. He now enjoys spending time with family and coaching basketball and baseball at various levels and ages.

Jill Rayburn

Jill Rayburn earned a J.D. from the University of Memphis School of Law where she was the recipient of the Cecil C. Humphreys Law Fellowship, President of the Christian Legal Society, Articles Editor for the U of M Law Review, and a member of the Council of Leaders. She earned her B.A. in Political Science/History and a minor in Business Economics from King College. Upon graduation from law school, she clerked for a Federal U.S. District Court Judge in Southwest Virginia. She practiced law for 10 years and was a partner with the firm Holmes, Stice & Rayburn PLC, with offices in Kingsport and Johnson City, Tennessee. Jill’s law practice was geared to assist closely held businesses from start to finish. She assisted her clients with business formations; contract negotiations and litigations; lease/purchase contracts and negotiations; employee/employer relations; representation during EEOC and unemployment claims; anti-discrimination training and litigation; dissolutions/mergers and other related legal issues. She also served as the Interim VP of Human Resources for Del-Ray Pharmaceuticals in Johnson City, Tennessee; served as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau and was certified as Civil Mediator by the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Jill is currently serving as University General Counsel and a member of the Executive Leadership Team at North Greenville University. In addition to working at NGU, she is a partner/owner of Richey Development, GP and Richey Girls, GP which are real estate development companies developing both commercial and residential properties. On a personal level, she is married to Aaron Rayburn who is the senior pastor at Indian Springs Baptist Church. Jill and Aaron have four children and served as foster parents for DSS Greenville for 7 years.
