Background
I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. As is common among teenage males, I struggled to be motivated or engaged in High School academics. I longed for adventure and to spend time away from what I considered tedious and impractical. For these reasons, I joined the Marine Corps out of High School. During my time in the service, I was deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. Following my service, I returned to school and spent 9 years working in churches as a youth and young adult pastor. In conjunction with beginning graduate training as a therapist, I worked as an investigative case worker for Child Protective Services.
