Beginning Homeschool Seminar
Hosted by UHC Executive Director, Suzanne Brown and UHC High School Program Director, Beth Martin.
This workshop is designed for parents interested in homeschooling, just beginning the homeschool journey, or for those homeschooling for a while who may be “stuck in a rut” and need new management ideas. This is not a “you must do it this way” type of seminar. All families and children are unique and have varying learning styles and situations that factor into the schooling environment. Suzanne and Beth have many years of experience in homeschooling and have a passion for assisting parents as they seek to educate their families at home.
The seminar normally lasts around two hours, and we are unable to provide childcare for this event.
Topics covered:
- So, we’ve made the decision to home educate? Now what???
- How do I Homeschool legally in SC?
- How do I choose a curriculum?
- How do I set up a daily schedule?
- How do I teach while managing a home?
- What about babies and toddlers?
- What about subjects I do not feel knowledgeable to teach?
- How do I teach more than one child at a time?
- How do I meet the unique needs of my students such as those with ADHD, ADD, Learning Disabilities, etc…?
NOTE: While we welcome parents who are new to homeschooling high school, more information specific to high school is covered in our Navigating the High School Maze workshop.
Cost per family:
$25 if paid prior to event. $30 if paid at the door. Payment should be sent to Suzanne Brown (Venmo @suzanne-Brown-51).
Contact Suzanne Brown with any questions or if you need to set up an alternative method of payment.
