Travelers Rest Middle School Student Orientation

ORIENTATION SCHEDULE FOUND AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE

BEFORE YOU COME:

  1. Review the UHC Middle School Handbook with your parents and read the following sections:
  2. Complete and Submit the Digital Student Contract.
  3. Make sure you have checked your JE Inbox to see messages from your teachers concerning anything they want you to bring to orientation.  There is also a message about completing an EdPuzzle assignment in JE to earn a free ice cream treat at orientation.  If you do not complete this by midnight on August 26th, you will need to pay $1 for your ice cream at orientation.
  4. Wear your UHC ID that you received at your picture appointment.

Parents will rotate through the schedule with their students. Parents are also welcome to talk with teachers during the ice cream social.

SUPPLIES REQUIRED  (per family): Purchase and label each item with your last name:

  • ALL families – bring 2 Ream of copy paper per family AND
    • Last name A – M: bring 2 rolls of paper towels
    • Last name N – Z: bring 2 containers of Clorox Type disinfecting wipes

Drop off supplies at the gym during orientation or during the the first week!

ORIENTATION SCHEDULE:

9:45-10:00
(Students Arrive at the Student Center (upstairs of Gym). Drop off supplies. Pick up Ecology Textbooks (6th Grade).
10:00-10:15 Welcome and General Meeting in Student Center.
10:15-10:30Jupiter Ed Overview (Students and Parents may bring a mobile device)
10:30-10:35Learning Differences Overview
10:35- 10:40Middle School Socials
10:45- 12:00Students and parents rotate through 4 Classes.
10:45-11:00Students and parents meet with first period teacher.
11:05-11:20Students and parents meet with second period teacher.
11:25-11:40 Student and parents meet with third period teacher.
11:45-12:00Students and parents meet with fourth period teacher.
12:00-12:15 Ice cream social in the gym. All students who have completed the JE training will get a free ice cream treat! All other students bring $1 for an ice cream treat.
